Seafood night of nights

The Northern Territory Seafood Council awarded nine awards to local industry leaders and achievers for their contributions and initiatives within the Northern Territory seafood industry at the Developing the North 2015 NT Seafood Industry and Awards and Gala Ball on Saturday night.

“It is a wonderful night to take a step back and celebrate the people and their achievements that make our industry so strong,” said Northern Territory Seafood Council Chairman, Mr Rob Fish.

“Rachael Ciesiolka took to the stage to describe how she pulled together the delicious entrée titled Outback to Ocean, which featured smoked pearl meat with wild caught banana prawn served in the essence of tomato and prawn pearls,” said Mr Fish.

“Darwin Convention Centre’s Executive Chef, Toby Beaton served the most exquisitely cooked Black Jewfish and Spanish mackerel fillets and whole Saddletail snappers for mains which left a resounding “wow” at many tables,” stated Mr Fish.

“With a number of NT venues now featuring local seafood, both the Restaurant and Fish & Chip awards were very competitive, with Saffron Restaurant and Frying Nemo Fish and Chippery coming out on top this year,” said Mr Fish.

All nine NT finalists will now have the opportunity to nominate for the Australian Seafood Industry Awards being held in Perth on 27th October, 2015.
